New Hiding Place

The other day I was doing laundry and Shaylin found a new hiding place.

She was being helpful though because I was taking the clothes out of the dryer and she was helping but she couldn't reach the last few socks so she climbed in to get them :)

She also needs a hair cut! Her hair is in her eyes all the time now.

She takes the biggest bites!

Sick Kids Are No Fun

So these past two weeks have been fun, but also busy and we have all had a turn at being sick. I was first and got sick right after we got back from spring break.

Next was my husband and got it the beginning of this week and missed two days of work, then Shaylin finally got it yesterday and today.
It is so sad to have to see her sick. It just breaks my heart. Luckily this was not a bad sickness for her and she is so good about it.

She just is really clingy and sad, not her usual cheerful self. One nice thing about it though is that I got to stay home from school to be with her.

I don't know if it is just Shaylin or if it's all kids but it is weird when she is sick because she feels good for a minute so she goes off to play but then starts feeling bad again so comes back to me to cuddle.
(That is one thing I love about her being sick, is that it is the only time that she will cuddle with me anymore)

So anyway it was just great to have a down day with her and we watched a couple of movies together, it was a great mother daughter bonding moment.

Kids Hair Styles

Shaylin's hair is finally getting long enough to be able to do it. I was so excited to be able to do her hair, but I realized I don't have many styles to do.

I did the top pony for quite a while sometimes with a flower sometimes without :)

I finally was able to to do Piggy tails, I love them!

I also do this twisted pony. It is so adorable on her

Although I love doing these few hair styles, I don't have many other hair styles so any new ideas would be helpful :)

Kids Learn So Fast!

The other night Shaylin and I were playing in the living room. My husband was in the bathroom. All of a sudden Shaylin heard the water running in the bathroom.

She immediately jumped up from what she was doing and ran across the room. She put her finger up to her lips and said Shhhhh.

She was running over to the bathroom to scare my husband when he came out.

It was so cute! We had unknowingly taught her this, because we would do this with her sometimes. I couldn't believe that she now was doing this by herself.
I can't believe how fast kids pick things up.

Kids are so resourceful

It is amazing to me how smart kids are and how they can think on their own even when they are really young.

Shaylin was sitting in her carseat reading a book and decided she needed something to hold up her book for her. So she pulled down the shade cover on her carseat and used it as a book holder. I was amazed, she was so cute and proud of herself.

Are Kids Really the Selfish Ones?

Isn't it funny that we sometimes have the preconceived notions that most kids are selfish. I mean, yes a lot of kids have that possessive part of them that comes out when someone tries to take something from them and they do say "mine". But where did they learn that from? When your child has something that they are not supposed to be playing with, what do we as parents say? "No, you cannot play with that, that is mommy's". And then we wonder where they get that from...

The other day I was watching Shaylin play with her cousin, and I was so proud. She was just as happy pushing her cousin on the little truck as she was to be riding it. Her cousin on the other hand would have no part in pushing Shaylin, she would only ride the truck. Granted her cousin is a few months younger than her, but it still made me as a mother feel like somewhat of a success.

So what I realized from this is that kids are probably less selfish than we think they are and we as the adults are possibly the more selfish ones...
