We are Moving!

I am very excited to say that we are moving! We are moving to California so that Nathan can go to GIA there. We applied for an apartment down there and are just waiting to hear back.

The school starts on May 24, but Nathan's last day of work here will be the 11th so we are hoping to be all ready to go and be able to move on the 14th.

I can't wait to be so close to the beach, and I think Shaylin will love it down there. The apartment will have a playground and pool and everything. And the last time we were in California we took Shaylin to the beach and she was a little nervous at first, but then loved it. She didn't like the cold water as much as the warm sand, but it was still fun.

We will miss everyone here, and it will be weird not going to school anymore, but I think it will be an amazing adventure! :)

Lovin Grandma's

It is so great to be able to have family around to watch Shaylin while I am in class. My sister-in-law who normally watches Shaylin was getting her wisdom teeth out, so Shaylin got to go spend more time with her grandma.

She loves it out at their house. There is tons of dirt and space for her to run and play in. They have a little puppy that Shaylin is sometimes scared of but sometimes loves. My mom said that Shaylin would call the puppy over to her and then get a little scared and push it away but then when it would walk away she would call it back to her again. She is pretty funny.

She loves the trampoline and I guess she was trying to do a somersault :)

She also got to ride on the tractor.

Technology Savvy

I can't believe how tech savvy Shaylin is sometimes. We have a Kindle Fire and she knows how to turn it on and unlock it and go through things. It is crazy how the younger generation will know technology from the time that they are born, whereas the generation before me is just barely learning how to use it.

She also loves holding the computer even though it probably weighs more than she does.

Forgetting the Camera is the Worst

I hate it when we go and do something fun and I forget the camera. Today Shaylin and I went swimming with my brother Cody and his daughter Lindsay. Shaylin had a lot of fun. Her cousin Lindsay is a little more daring than Shaylin is because they go to the pool almost everyday, but Shaylin was more active this time than the last.

She did have a small accident when she fell off the stairs to the slide, but all is well she just got a little scratch on her back. She does get cold after a while too. She starts shivering and her lips turn purple so I take her out and warm her up for a little bit.

Because I forgot my camera there will be no pictures with this post :(

Little Seats

Shaylin finds the funniest places to sit down. She loves to sit on anything that is small and close to the ground.
So she will sometimes just randomly sit on the wipe-up case. It is like the perfect height for her, but it is silly.

Also I love it when I take the pony tails out of her hair and it sticks out everywhere.

Adorable Poses

I love it when Shaylin does random cute poses. The only problem is by the time I get the camera out she is done doing the pose.

The other day we were just sitting in the living room and Shaylin climbed onto a stool on her belly and rested her chin in her hand and just looked like she was bored.

By the time I got the camera she was done so this is the only shot I could get.

The Lion King

Nathan and I both love the movie the Lion King. So when we were pregnant and started stocking up on all of the Disney classics this is one that we definitely bought.

I love the music and the humor and just everything. So now Shaylin is finally old enough to almost be able to enjoy movies, so sometimes I will let her watch it.

She loves it! She knows how to growl and so when she sees the lions she will growl at them, and it is so cute. She also loves to dance to the music. And she will make the sound of a monkey. I just love watching her while she is watching it :)

Shaylin is Getting So Big

I cannot believe how big Shaylin is getting. On Saturday Nathan and I went down to St George, and Shaylin stayed here with Nathan's sister. They said that she was really good, and she didn't even take a nap. She was sooo exhausted when we got home, but she had so much fun.
She played outside practically all day, because it was so nice.

I am so grateful to have family around that is willing to watch her, but that will change soon with us moving!

Creative Playing

I love to just sit and watch Shaylin play when she doesn't know that i'm looking. I love the things that she comes up with to do.

The other day we were in the living room and Shaylin was just over playing, and so I started watching her. And while she was playing she saw a hat on the floor so she picked it up put it on her head backwards and just kept playing.

So I got the camera and then she realized I was watching, but I managed to get a few pictures before she took the hat off.

I love this one!

They Know Exactly What They Want

I have mixed feelings about how smart Shaylin is. On one I love that she understands so much and that she is smart, but on the other it makes it hard to say no because she knows what she wants and how to get it.

Shaylin loves to have Nathan and I hold each end of a blanket and swing her around. So sometimes when she wants to do it she will get out a blanket and put it on the floor and lay down on it and jabber at us until we come.

It is really cute, however, it does get tiring sometimes because she never wants to stop.

I also love it that her hair gets all staticy

So Tiny

I love how small and creative Shaylin can be. She finds the most interesting things to keep her entertained.

The other day I did laundry so there was a basket of clothes on the floor. Shaylin found Nathans shorts in the basket and put them on. However, she only fit in one leg and her whole body fit in there. It was pretty cute.

Hiding in the Closet

Shaylin's new thing is when my bedroom door is open she will run into my room and hide in closet. She loves to go in there and just sit against the wall. She also learned how to shut herself in there and then open the doors again. So she has been playing peek-a-boo with me.

(Sorry about the fuzzy pictures, my camera had a smudge on the lens)

Johnny Appleseed

So I don't really know what Johnny Appleseed looked like, but the other day Shaylin came to me after playing in the kitchen cabinets with a bowl on her head and a strainer in her hands, and it just reminded me of Johnny Appleseed. I thought it was so cute. She loved it, she didn't want to take it off.

Easter Was Fabulous

So I know that Easter is long gone now, but I hadn't posted about it so I figured I would now.

Our Easter weekend was great! We started out by going to the Paragonah Easter egg hunt. (I grew up in Paragonah and that is where my sister was going and so that's why we went there instead of staying in Cedar)

I also love how few kids are at the hunt there. I didn't have to worry about Shaylin getting run over by all the other kids, and she didn't have to be super fast to be able to get any treats.

So she had fun at first picking up the treasures on the ground, but after a little while, since they hold the hunt for the babies on the playground, Shaylin just wanted to play. So she sort of lost interest and started climbing to the slide.

Despite her loosing interest Shaylin still got a prize egg and got a little camping chair. I was very pleased with this because Nathan and I had just recently been talking about getting her some kind of little chair.

She likes it too. While we were waiting in line to see the Easter bunny I pulled out her chair and she just chilled in it with her candy for a while.

I'm not exactly sure what it is that makes children so terrified of the Easter bunny or Santa Claus, but there is certainly something that is wrong. So of course here is her screaming Easter bunny picture that will go right along with her Santa Claus one :)

Daddy's Girl

I don't think Shaylin has really decided if she is a daddy or mommy's girl. But when Nathan came home for lunch he laid on the couch to take a quick nap and Shaylin climbed up with him and just laid with him. She was daddy's little girl.

It was so cute. Especially because it is a chore to get her to hold still for more than a minute at a time.

Outside Looking In

Nathan took Shaylin outside for a minute to get some jitters out before bed. I was in the kitchen and so I knocked on the window and Nathan held her up to the window. She loved it! She just kept laughing.

My Little Helper

I still cannot believe how big Shaylin is getting. It is going so fast!

I can't believe how much she understands too. Sometimes it feels like it is an old person in a small body.

Shaylin now will go get her diapers when we tell her to because she needs a change. she usually brings me about three of them at a time, but hey at least I don't have to get it :)

Precious Little Flower

I love all the flowers and greenness as spring starts. And Shaylin seems to like them too. We were outside playing in our backyard and she found this patch of flowers and picked one.

When Nathan brought me home flowers the other day I had smelled them, Shaylin thought that I was blowing on them. So she now blows on flowers. This is what she is doing here.

After she blew on the flower she took it over to a pipe that sticks up in the back yard and put the flower on it and then sat on it :)

(She kinda looks funny, cause she couldn't keep her eyes open from the sun)

Spring May Have Finally Sprung

I love the days that are warm enough that we can go play outside. Shaylin loves it out there.
Today happened to be one of those days that actually feels like spring! So we took advantage of it.

We were getting ready to go outside and play and Shaylin wanted to bring a book out, so I let her.

So she brought the book outside but it was not to read it. She put the book on the toy and started pushing it. It was really cute.

She could barely get her little arms around it to be able to push it.

Sturdy Toys are a Must

Many children's toys are made quite sturdy because we all know how rough they are on them. I just almost wish that toys could be invincible.

I bought Shaylin a stroller for her doll, I thought she would love it. She does, but the problem is she usually doesn't put her doll in it, she likes to ride in it herself. I mean theoretically she isn't much heavier than some dolls, but it still makes a difference.

So she sits in it and it sags way down because it is only held up by elastic. It is super cute, but as you can imagine it is not going to last much longer around my house because it is ripping through.

I can't even imagine what it will be like when I start having boys...

Ring Around the Rosie

Despite the arguments as to whether this nursery rhyme is about the plague or not, kids still love it and I play with Shaylin quite often.

The cutest thing though was the other day when she started playing with her doll. It was so adorable she was spinning her doll around and then just kind of dropped it on the floor and clapped her hands.
Its amazing how fast they pick things up.
